Fire of Liberty
I was over at Richard Brookhiser's(a fine historian, author, and writer) blog Right Time, Right Place and came across a forty year old statement by William F. Buckley Jr. on Congress that rings true today. Here's the quote:
"decisions made between nine and five in Washington office rooms, where the oligarchs of the Affluent Society sit, allocating complaints and solutions to communities represented by pins on the map"

- Ever since I was a little child I have had a great interest in the news and events throughout the world. As a young child I also garnered a great respect for this nation and its desire to spread God's given rights of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness to the dark corners of the world which have been denied such rights for far too long. Call me idealistic if you will but if folks don't talk about and promote such ideas their society and way of life that we've grown accustomed to could blow away much like sands in a desert.
