Freedom's Champion

Fire of Liberty

One thing that I really like about President Bush is his straight-shooting talk and lack of offending anyone or nation with his ever present defense of G-d's given rights of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Such a stand was clearly presented with President Bush's recent visit to Gangwashi church in Beijing, where he called on the China to allow some 80 million Christians to openly practice their faith without having to register and get an official ok from the government. In fact the President took an important stand for calling for the further expansion of various religious/political/economic freedoms by publicly noting in front of TV cameras (I doubt the folks of China heard this though.) that:
"They go hand in hand. A society which recognises religious freedom is a society which will recognise political freedom as well. President Hu is a thoughtful fellow, and he listened to what I had to say."
As we are often reminded by a lot of academics, MSM types that "only Nixon could have gone to China," I guess President Bush is really the first leader in a long time who is willing to press the Chinese government on religious and political freedoms. No matter what you think about the President, you've got to give him major kudos for his defense of freedom.
