Iraq: Better than DNC Thinks

Fire of Liberty

While the MSM types like Chris Matthews and the Democrats are causing a big dust-up in a purely academic debate about how we got into Operation Iraqi Freedom some two years and nine month ago, they fail to point out that we are achieving victories against the terrorists in Iraq and are making great strides in helping the folks in Iraq bring their nation out a tyrannous hell an into the democratic sphere. To avoid the MSM "all is lost" blather on Iraq that will be pounded in the heads of the American public by the Big 3 networks the next couple of days -especially after Reid's recent use of Rule 21 - just check out these pieces on the success stories in Iraq.

First, check out this piece by Michael Fumento over at Tech Central Station (Published August 26, 2005 but is an example of progress in Iraq) on the enormous turn-around that has occurred in the city of Fallujah since the Marines and their respective "brothers in arms" in the Army cleared out the rat-nest of terrorists that had entrenched themselves in last year. You'll find some interesting news about the re-birth of this Iraqi city that some folks in the US were touting as a testament of our failure in the land of Mesopotamia. Secondly, take a look at this article by Dan Murphy in Monday's edition of the Christian Science Monitor on how the city of Baquba (50 miles North of Baghdad) has transformed itself from a hotbed of Islamic terrorists and Ba'athist hanger-oners to a city that is enjoying a peaceful transition towards peace and democracy. From what I gathered from the article is that the policy of clearing out the terrorists by the US military and a contingent of Iraqis and then the eventual replacement of the American troops with Iraqi soldiers and their police forces.

I wonder who proposed such an idea? Oh yeah, President Bush has been repeating such a policy every time he talks about our policies about securing Iraq and breathing the fresh air of democracy into the lungs of Iraq. We can rattle on and on about why we went into Iraq but since there's no use in crying about spilt milk, we should be focusing on finishing the job of clearing the swamp of Islamic terrorism and the despots who create the environment that spurs on such horrors. The Iraqi people, our soldiers and the people of the United States know full well what's at stake in Iraq and are willing to stand behind President Bush as he continues to "finish the drill" (You UGA fans out their know what I'm talking about) in Iraq but the Dems and the MSM just keep on acting as if the fight in Iraq has created an atmosphere in America similar to the one the pushed LBJ out in 1968 and our eventual abandonment of South Vietnam in 1975.

Maybe they should get out more and find some new ideas and issues to talk about or they'll see a repeat performance of 2002 come 2006.

Update:

Check out this piece by Stephen Schwartz over at Tech Central Station on how much the most recent vote on Iraq's constitution has demonstrated about how the people of Iraq are slowly but surely marching towards democracy no matter what has been thrown at the along the way.
