Lee Harris over at Tech Central Station has an interesting article on the concept known as Hegemony. As Harris notes, there has been a blurring of definitions between the Classical Greek word Hegemony and the modern day bugaboo word Empire. Thanks to people like Noam Chomsky , readers and students of the late 20th and early 21st Century have been given the impression that Hegemony and Empire are interchangable even though they are miles apart. Harris does a better analysis than I do, so check it out.
