European Union

Fire of Liberty

Next week, Spain will hold a referendum on the EU constitution. There's one problem though, it seems the people of Spain are less than enthusiastic about this vote. Based on numbers from Spain, the turnout for the vote is around 40%. So in order for the socialist government under PM Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero to improve the vote turnout they have initiated an add campaign using a soda. Read here.

Oh yeah, let me drink this new soda and contemplate the vote on the EU constitution. Um, that's so refreshing, I should vote for the constitution. Yeah, right!!!

Why the small turnout? Could it be that the people of Spain actually don't like this new fandangled constitution and crazy superstate known as the EU. I believe there is a silent majority yelling stop and don't care for giving up their soverigenty and national identity to bureacrats in Brussels. I'm with the people. Don't be surprised if one nation amongst France, Denmark, the Netherlands, Poland or Britian will vote no. We'll see, I'd vote no.
