Fire of Liberty
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer has an interesting article on Iran's nuclear weapons program. According to the article, the IAEA has filed a report on Iran's nuclear weapons program. Based on their report, Iran has resumed the construction of its heavy water nuclear reactor in Arak, which, when its fully capable can produce enough plutonium to make one bomb per year. The report also notes that the regime has also started the construction of extensive tunnels and storage facilities in the city of Isfaham, which is the home of the Persian uranium enrichment program. Through a combination of concrete and reinforced steel, the Iranians have begun the construction of tunnels some half a mile under the ground. Based on the Iranians, these tunnels are being constructed to ensure the safety and security of their nuclear materials from aerial bombardment from the US and Israel. Its funny that a nation who says they are only constructing a nuclear power plant for electricity are going to such an extent to protect the reactor.
Could it be that the Iranians are continuing to enrich uranium as well plutonium for the use in nuclear weapons that they are storing underground in areas the size of basketball courts. If they were constructing a peaceful nuclear facility that various other nations have, they wouldn't need to worry about these sights being blown back to the stone-age. And people expect us to deal with these vile elements who will do anything to develop weapons that are intended for the US, Europe or Israel. It would be easy if the Iranians just opened up everything to the inspectors but they've got something to hide.
We need to follow Reagan's words of wisdom, "Trust but Verify." The only problem is that the energy-rich nation has verified that we can't trust them due to their acts of deception. They are indeed the crocodile that Churchill warned against working with. I hope they don't bite us before we can do something with them.
