Venezuela

Fire of Liberty

Ol' Hugo Chavez has further cemented his record as an tyrant in the last few months. As noted in an earlier post, the Lt. Colonel has already provided some insight into his Marxist leanings through his policy of land confiscation and redistribution. To understand the extensive damage that this policy has wreaked on the Venezuelan nation and its people, check out Carlos A. Ball's article over @ Tech Central Station. Ball clearly lays out the detrimental affect that an agrarian revolution has on the nation as a whole. Just see for yourself .

Within the past two days, Chavez has begun his role as a second coming of Fidel Castro, when he ordered the arrest and imprisonment(Thanks American Thinker) of his political opponents, Venezuelan democrats, journalists and others who speak for freedom and liberty. In the same fashion of Hitler, Stalin, Franco, Peron, Castro and Saddam, these brave souls received the typical midnight knock at their door -more like a loud thud followed by a bum-rush of goons- and are carried away to dank prisons for an indefinite amount of time awaiting a predisposed verdict handed down by a Chavez packed court. One can only imagine the likely sentences-which more than certain will be excessive-not to mention the possibility of torture. I have to assume that Chavez is just starting his power grab and will morph himself and Venezuela into a tyranny that makes Castro's Cuban "paradise" look like child's-play. Lord help us if he does.

It's getting to the point that South America's is experiencing a backward slide into left-wing tyrannies that were destroyed in the latter 1980's and 90's. Therefore, I suggest that the State Department and the White House set at least some sight into our own hemisphere and the emergence of Chavez. Hopefully, President Bush and Secretary Rice are aware of this emerging tyranny especially after Ms. Rice implicated Chavez's regime as an "Outpost of Tyranny." I just hope well get a grasp on the situation before it gets to far out of hand. The people of Venezuela also urn for the Fire of Liberty and the flames of freedom.
