Culture of Death: A Slippery Slope

Fire of Liberty

During the whole Schiavo saga, I reminded you of the ever increasing cases of euthanasia that have occurred throughout the Netherlands. Well, it seems the horror's of euthanasia have jumped across the English Channel and might have occurred in Kingsway hospital in Derby, England. According to this article in The Times, the coroner in Derby is conducting an inquiry into a claim that 11 patients have been starved to death. While I hope that the death of these eleven people is just due to natural causes and not through forced starvation, it wouldn't be a shock to me if they actually were euthanized. After the death of Schiavo and the countless eugenic nightmare stories from Holland, its only logical to expect a percentage of the medical community who see no problem with ending "their patients misery." I guess they've never heard of the Bible or St. Augustine's argument that all life has value (Except for Death Row Inmates - I side with the Catholic League here.) Anyway, if the practice of eugenics and euthanasian catches on, we'll be hurtling even further and further down the road to Huxley's Brave New World. I think anybody interested in this subject needs to heed the words from the 1967 hit song "For What It's Worth" by Buffalo Springfield:

I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

If this worked for Vietnan, why not for this dangerous practice. Remember, we'll all get old one day and will be at the mercy of others who might think-via some weird logic- that they need to put an end to our "suffering."
