Fire of Liberty
Throughout the day I've read countless Op/Ed's and columns on the momentous events that have conspired in Lebanon the past two days and the aftershocks that are rumbling the Assad regime. I thought I'd share them with you. First, here's an Op/Ed by Hassan Mneimneh in The New York Post. Secondly, here's a piece by Professor Walid Phares in today's National Review Online edition on Syria. Anyone who's read Fire of Liberty since its inception know my admiration for the professor. If you want an expert on Lebanon and its terror-master Syria, Professor Phares is someone you should read. Thirdly, here's an article by Nir Boms, Vice-President of the Center for Freedom in the Middle East and Aaron Mannes, author of Profiles in Terror. This wonderful duo has penned a detailed piece over @ National Review Online on the long and rocky road that will have to be traveled before Syria releases its grasp from Lebanon. Fourthly, here's an article by Joshua Livestro over at Tech Central Station on how the blogosphere can move beyond the usual boundaries set up by authoritarian/autocratic regimes. All you need is a modem, phone line, computer and your wired into a powerful tool. We used mimeograph machines in Poland to power the samizadt (underground press) and we can use the blogosphere and the info highway to change the Middle East. Finally, here's a piece by William Kristol over @ The Weekly Standard. Kristol has written a definitive defense of President Bush's policy of democracy promotion and destroying terror regimes. Check out all of these articles/columns and put the people of Lebanon in your prayers. And add the people under tyranny on that list as well.
