Fire of Liberty
While the Lebanese people took a great stride in the Cedar Revolution by forcing the resignation of the PM and the government, they still face the pro-Syrian stalwart President Emile Lahoud. Unlike the parliament, Lahoud has a very tight-nit relationship with the Syrian regime and has no sympathy for Lebanon. He's devoted to Assad and his terrorist regime. If you recall, the Syrian government used its lackeys in the Lebanese to change the constitution to allow Lahoud an unprecedented third term. Such an act resulted in the resignation of the late Rafik Hariri, who argued that he couldn't remain in a gov't run by a gaggle of Syrian puppets. We saw on February 14, 2005 what the Syrian regime is capable of and I expect a fight with Lahoud who is currently trying to form a new government.
Unfortunately, Lahoud faces the people powered Cedar Revolution who have set up camp in Martyr Square and are rallying for democracy and freedom from Syrian domination. I doubt Lahoud will be able to avoid thousands of people chanting "Freedom, Sovereignty, Independence." or "We are all, Muslims and Christians, against the Syrians." Keep up the good fight. Lebanon will be free by your actions.
