Fire of Liberty
Joseph Farah over @ WorldNetDaily has a great article on the ongoing Cedar Revolution. He notes that the assassination of Hariri, possibly by Syria, has sparked an unprecedented amount of togetherness. First of all, the assassination has pulled the US and France closer together, who have decided to push the Syrians out of Lebanon by calling for the implementation of UN Security Council resolution 1559. Secondly, the death of Hariri has also united the various Sunni, Druze Muslims, Maronite Christians as well as Shiites in a common cause, which is the removal of Syria's troops and influence from Lebanon. What's more amazing is the fact that these groups are coming together especially after they fought a 20 year Civil War against each other. It truly says something about a nation when they take to the streets for a fellow countryman. I guess they're tired of Syrian manipulation.
The Cedar Revolution has not only brought about a call for democracy it has also weakened Syria's support for its terror allies Hezbollah. As I've noted before, Farah notes that all of this people power wouldn't be occurring now without the invasion of Iraq and the promotion of democracy and freedom by President Bush.
