"The difficult we do immediately; the impossible takes slightly longer."Ralph Peters has a thought provoking article on the march of freedom in the Middle East. While he notes the momentous events that have conspired in the past months in the Middle East he also notes that the road to democracy and harmony is a road filled with potholes . I guess you could say we have experienced "the end of the beginning," though we're a long way from achieving the end of our struggle with terrorism and tyranny. Peters notes that we have a long way to go with Syria, Iraq, Iran, Egypt and Saudi Arabia before we see the emergence of freedom and democracy but we're on the right track by pushing our ideas of liberty and freedom more forcefully on these regimes. It's no time to equivocate or back down from our principles when we've achieved so much. Peters has applied his extensive knowledge as an former officer in the US Army and a academic into a great strategic viewpoint. I just hope a lot of people realize what we have achieved and how much work we have to do before this struggle is over.
