It seems some folks in the British government haven't gotten the drift that multiculturalism and identity politics is not the right way to go. Unfortunately folks like Home Office Minister Hazel Blears are proposing a similar policy by identifying immigrants our minorities as hyphenated-Brits, so instead of being British they be either French-British, German-British, Chinese-British, Saudi-British or Lord knows where ever else they were from. I think Blears' ideas were pretty much quashed by the shadow Home Office. Just look:
Edward Garnier, the shadow home affairs spokesman, said: "This is a fatuous idea. We need rather more serious thinking and rather less off the cuff talking from ministers"It's always good tosensiblensable folks in this world who know BS when they see it.
"I've got a growing number of Asian British people in my constituency. They think of themselves as British. They don't need a government minister to tell them how to describe themselves."
