Fire of Liberty

I was watching the post-SOTU coverage with Larry King on CNN last night and heard the most absurd question by a caller. The lady asked Senator John Warner, "What has this nation ever achieved through the fighting of a war?" Well let's see, we won our Independence from England in The Revolutionary War, We defeated English aggression in the War of 1812, We fought a war to restore our union and brought a whole race out of bondage during the Civil War, We fought back the aggressive Kaiser of Germany and his expansionist tendencies in WWI, We also fought in WWII to defeat World domination of murderous regimes of Hitler and Tojo, We also pushed the tyrannical Kim Il Sung back to his dungeon of the north thus freeing millions upon millions of South Koreans, We also have freed countless individuals in Grenada, Panama, Kuwait, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq from the ruthless dictators or tyrannies that threatened their freedoms.

I'd say that fighting a war has resulted in one thing and that is Freedom. People need to read more history and watch less American Idol and Fear Factor.
